MNDNRLAKECITY acoustic telemetry project was initiated in Pools 4 and 5 of the Mississippi River to evaluate Lake Sturgeon and Paddlefish movements in Lake Pepin. Since, a telemetry array has been maintained by the Lake City Area MN DNR office. With an increasing number of native species tagged in the UMR along with a growing concern over invasive species movement, the receiver array has been maintained. Future research interests may lead to expanded receiver coverage throughout pools 4 – 9 of the UMR and its major tributaries. In addition, expanded tagging efforts will follow future research priorities and funding for MN DNR Fisheries Research.
