{ "description": "The objective of this work was to delineate areas in the Upper Mississippi River System where the combined effects of water clarity and water level fluctuation conditions are not limiting the establishment and persistence of submersed aquatic vegetation (SAV). We note that other factors, such as herbivory or high current velocity may actively prevent establishment of submersed aquatic vegetation in areas of the Upper Mississippi River System, and that this analysis is based on physical constraints imposed by water clarity and water level fluctuation only. Total suspended solids information was collected by the Upper Mississippi River Restoration program, and water level information was collected by the United State Army Corps of Engineers and United States Geological Survey and water depth data from the USGS to map areas suitable for support of submersed aquatic vegetation using four scenarios (lower SAV boundary elevation, lower SAV boundary elevation -1 SD, lower SAV boundary elevation + 1 SD, lower SAV boundary elevation with a 75% reduction in total suspended solids)\n\nhttps://www.usgs.gov/centers/umesc/science/understanding-constraints-submersed-vegetation-distribution-a-large-floodplain", "summary": "Predicted percentage of years from 1993 - 2014 with conditions suitable for submersed aquatic vegetation based on light availability and water level fluctuations for the Upper Mississippi River System using four scenarios.", "tags": [ "submersed aquatic vegetation", "Mississippi River" ], "accessinformation": "Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources; US Army Corps of Engineers, Upper Mississippi River Restoration Program - Long Term Resource Monitoring element; USGS, Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center", "MinScale": 0.0, "MaxScale": 0.0, "Snippet": "Predicted percentage of years from 1993 - 2014 with conditions suitable for submersed aquatic vegetation based on light availability and water level fluctuations for the Upper Mississippi River System using four scenarios.", "title": "umrr_ltrm_sav_suitability_01", "licenseinfo": "Unless otherwise stated, all data, metadata and related materials are considered to satisfy the quality standards relative to the purpose for which the data were collected.
